I picked up my first...Isn't apple season grand? I picked up my first bag at the farmer's market today, a heritage variety called Spartan (I think - should have written it down!) I usually just eat them at lunch but when I have a surplus I like to do what we called "fried apples" when I was a kid - melt some butter (or margarine) in a pan, slice up some apples into it, sprinkle with a little sugar and a good amount of cinnamon.
